Best eSIM for Portugal (2026), Ranked

Best eSIM providers for Portugal, ranked

We compared every major eSIM option for Portugal. Here’s what’s actually worth your money.

EU residents

If you have a SIM from any EU country, your roaming is already included in Portugal at no extra cost. You do not need a Portugal eSIM. This guide is for travelers coming from outside the EU.

MEO eSIM Enjoy

Visit MEO

Best value. Local carrier, local pricing.

MEO is the largest mobile network in Portugal. Their eSIM Enjoy is a tourist product: buy online, get QR code by email (usually within an hour), install, go. It supports 5G and comes with validity options of 15, 20, or 35 days.

Starting at €10. That’s local pricing, not the markup you pay through travel eSIM apps. MEO also has the widest coverage in Portugal, including rural Alentejo, Madeira, and the Azores.

The tradeoff: the purchase flow is a Portuguese carrier website, not a slick travel app. It’s not hard, but it’s not as polished as Airalo or Saily.

  • Pros: Cheapest per-GB, largest Portuguese network, 5G support, long validity options
  • Cons: Less polished buying experience than travel apps, Portugal-only

Airalo

Visit Airalo

Easiest setup. The default travel eSIM.

Airalo is the biggest eSIM marketplace and the most polished app-based experience. Portugal plans start at US$4 for 1 GB / 7 days. Buy in the app, scan QR, install. First-time eSIM users will have the least friction here.

Uses Vodafone PT network, which is excellent in cities and along the coast.

PlanPriceValidity
1 GBUS$4.007 days
3 GBUS$8.0030 days
5 GBUS$12.0030 days
10 GBUS$18.0030 days
  • Pros: Smoothest app experience, reliable Vodafone network, wide plan selection
  • Cons: More expensive per-GB than MEO, data-only

Saily

Visit Saily

Cheapest travel eSIM app. Slightly beats Airalo on price.

Saily is the budget pick among travel eSIM apps. Portugal plans from US$3.99 for 1 GB / 7 days, up to 20 GB / 30 days. Auto-activates when you land.

Made by the same company behind NordVPN. Clean app, transparent pricing, no surprises. Slightly cheaper than Airalo for the same type of product.

PlanPriceValidity
1 GBUS$3.997 days
3 GBUS$9.9930 days
5 GBUS$13.9930 days
10 GBUS$22.9930 days
20 GBUS$36.9930 days
  • Pros: Cheapest travel eSIM app, clean interface, auto-activation
  • Cons: Data-only, no unlimited option
Tip

Saily and Airalo are nearly identical products at nearly identical prices. If you already have one app installed from a previous trip, just use that one. Don't overthink it.

Holafly

Visit Holafly

Unlimited data. No caps, no math.

Holafly gives you unlimited data on Vodafone PT. No data caps, no top-ups, no worrying about usage. The price is higher than capped plans, but the convenience is real.

PlanPriceData
3 daysUS$11.70Unlimited
5 daysUS$16.90Unlimited
7 daysUS$22.10Unlimited
15 daysUS$40.30Unlimited
30 daysUS$74.90Unlimited

Worth it if you’re working remotely from Lisbon, creating content, or just hate monitoring data. Overkill for a weekend in Porto where you only need maps and messaging.

  • Pros: Truly unlimited, Vodafone network, zero management
  • Cons: Expensive for light users, data-only, hotspot sharing limited

Vodafone Portugal & Europe eSIM

Visit Vodafone

The only real option for Portugal + Europe in one product.

Vodafone’s travel eSIM gives you unlimited data in Portugal plus a big chunk of data across the EEA and UK. This is the pick if your trip includes Spain, France, or anywhere else in Europe.

PlanPortugalEEA + UKValidity
StandardUnlimited25 GB15 days
PlusUnlimited45 GB30 days
PremiumUnlimited75 GB30 days

They also have a Portugal-only plan: 10 GB for 7 days, no calls/SMS. Less interesting unless the Europe bundle doesn’t fit your trip.

  • Pros: Unlimited Portugal data + generous EU roaming, official carrier product
  • Cons: More complex pricing, less convenient than app-based options

Nomad

Visit Nomad

Solid mid-range. Good if you want flexibility.

Nomad uses MEO’s network and starts around US$8 for 5 GB / 30 days. Their add-on system lets you buy more data without replacing the eSIM.

Fine, but not the best at anything for Portugal specifically. MEO is cheaper for local carrier pricing, Airalo/Saily are more polished apps, and Holafly is better for unlimited.

  • Pros: Flexible add-ons, MEO network, long validity
  • Cons: Not the cheapest, not the best app, not the best at anything specific

NOS

Visit NOS

Another local option. Less tourist-friendly.

NOS is Portugal’s third major carrier. They sell prepaid eSIMs online with unlimited data and 5G for 15 days. A solid product, but the website is primarily in Portuguese and the purchase flow is less streamlined for tourists than MEO’s.

If MEO’s eSIM is sold out or you want an alternative local carrier, NOS works. Otherwise, just get MEO.

  • Pros: Local carrier pricing, unlimited data, 5G
  • Cons: Portuguese-language website, less tourist-oriented

By trip length

Weekend (2-3 days): Saily 1 GB (US$3.99) or Airalo 1 GB (US$4). Done.

7 days: MEO eSIM Enjoy. Local carrier pricing beats the travel apps. If you don’t want to deal with a Portuguese website, Airalo 3 GB (US$8) is the easy alternative.

14 days: MEO eSIM Enjoy with 20-day validity. At this length, the cost savings over travel apps add up.

30 days: MEO 35-day validity or Holafly 30-day unlimited (US$74.90) if you’re a heavy user. Vodafone if you’re also traveling elsewhere in Europe.
